Bouldering is known as a programmer hobby, but also great for mathematicians!

Matrix's Bouldering Excursion will take place on Wednesday, February 18th @ 2 PM at KiipeilyAreena Kalasatama. The excursion will include specifically bouldering, i.e. climbing without any gear at low altitudes indoors. The event is mainly targeted for beginners, but having some experience does not forbid you from participating. If you have a subscription to KiipeilyAreena and want to join the excursion, please register as well so we know you are coming.

The KiipeilyAreena climbing hall is located in Redi shopping centre, you'll get from outside at the corner of Kalasatamankatu and Leonkatu. We'll meet in front of the entrance at 13.45 PM. Please arrive early. 

The participation fee will be between 8 and 10€, and it includes entry to KiipeilyAreena and rental shoes. Please use socks if you're using rental shoes!

Matrix is going to Poronkusema 2026!! Poronkusema is the biggest student event in Northern Finland. Participants gather in teams of 3 to 6 people, dress up and go around Rovaniemi from checkpoint to checkpoint.

Tickets cost 37€ per person and include the after parties of Friday and Saturday. The ticket is only for Poronkusema, once we see how many people from Matrix are going, we will organize the joint trip and try to find accommodation together (and possibly with other math associations from around Finland).

Matrix järjestää lautapeli-illan tiistaina 24.2. klo 18 alkaen Matlu-klusterilla osoitteessa Leppäsuonkatu 11. Sisälle pääset soittamalla ovikelloa, jossa lukee "Christina Regina". Mukaan voi tulla missä tahansa vaiheessa iltaa ja mikäli itse omistat jonkun mainion lautapelin tuo se toki mukanasi!

A traditional march from campus to Gustaf Hällström’s grave at Hietaniemi Cemetery. The group will depart together from Komero at 15:15. Dress code: overalls!

Matrix turns 31 years old this year, so now we have a reason to PARTY! After the Anniversary March we will head to Klusteri to get wasted (not mandatory) and have some fun! Dresscode: OVERALLS.

Accessibility information: A small threshold at the front door. Heavy doors, entry by ringing the doorbell. Accessible toilet outside the Klusteri space itself, accessed using the elevator. In some places, the passageways are narrow. Potentially noisy, no separate quiet room.

Let's celebrate the anniversary week with cake and coffee on the 3rd floor of Exactum!

Welcome to celebrate the 31st anniversary of Matrix ry on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at the sparkling Hietaniemi Pavilion, located at Hiekkarannantie 9!

The celebration will begin with a cocktail reception at 4:00 PM and will continue with the formal banquet starting at 6:00 PM.

The price of the annual celebration is €55 for students and €70 for non-students. A supporter ticket costs €90. Registration for the event takes place via Kide.app. Registration opens on Monday, January 26, at 12:00 PM and closes on Monday, February 16, at 12:00 PM.

The menu for the annual celebration is fully vegan. Please indicate any dietary restrictions during registration.

The dress code for the celebration is formal attire or dark suit with academic honors.

The afterparty will, as per tradition, be held at Klusteri, located at Leppäsuonkatu 11.

The day after the annual celebration, a herring breakfast (i.e. silliaamiainen, sillis) will be organized at Juhlatila Linda, located at Hämeentie 11, from 11am to 10pm. A €15 ticket to sillis can be purchased in connection with the annual celebration registration.

Hietaniemi Pavilion is accessible. The venue is accessible through the main entrance. The pavilion has one accessible restroom and one accessible parking space. The sillis venue is partially accessible. There is an accessable entrance in the inner courtyard, but the elevator is narrow. Deripaatti is returning once again to the Tallink Victoria I cruise ship on the 20th and 21st of March 2026. This 22-hour cruise brings together all physics and mathematics students from all around Finland for an unforgettable party on board. The evening will culminate with the amazing Elastinen taking the stage at the Starlight Nightclub.

Cruise Schedule:

20.3.
- Departure at 18:35 from Helsinki (West Terminal 2)

21.3.
- Shopping in Tallinn from 8:00 to 12:00
- Departure at 12:30 from Tallinn
- Return at 16:00 to Helsinki

Accommodation on the ship will be in B-standard cabins for 4 people. Price per person is 32€. During registration, participants can also choose separately priced meals for the cruise. Payment instructions will be sent later.

Registration closes on February 8th at 12:00, so act quickly! Registration is binding from then on. 

Reminder: When traveling to Estonia, participants must have either a passport or a photo ID card issued by the police. 

Helsinginkatu appro is a student-minded apopro event where participants tour the bars and restaurants of the Kallio area collecting stamps to their performance cards. Stamps are gained by purchasing drinks or food from each of the establishments. By collecting enough badges participants gain a light-hearted "degree" and receive an overall patch for their efforts. There are five different levels of degrees and they must be completed one at a time and in order of difficulty. The evening culminates in an afterparty held in Apollo live club to which doors open at 21:00 on the day of the appro.

Tickets sold by Matrix are valid on thursday 9.4. starting at 16:00 and include an overall patch, a performance card and entry to the afterparty. Participants may begin their tour later than the time on their tickets. There is a limited number of tickets available through Matrix.
