Matrix ry
Matrix ry is the student organization of mathematics students at the University of Helsinki. We organize recreational activities, festivities, and events related to studying mathematics or working as a mathematician for our members. Matrix also promotes the interests of mathematics students in decision-making at the university.

Welcome to the Matrix website! Matrix is an organization of all mathematics students that also welcomes other students from Kumpula and the University of Helsinki. On campus, we stay in our student room in Komero on the 3rd floor of Exactum and in the evenings you can often find us at various events that Matrix organises on average several times a month.

Kutsu sääntömääräiseen syyskokoukseen 26.11.2025 // Invitation to the general fall meeting on 26th of November 2025
(In English below) Matrixin sääntömääräinen syyskokous järjestetään keskiviikkona 26.11. klo 16 Exactumin luokassa C323. Yhdistyksen kokouksessa valitaan tulevan vuoden 2026 puheenjohtaja, varapuheenjohtaja, taloudenhoitaja, sihteeri sekä hallitus, hyväksytään yhdistyksen dokumenteista tulevalle vuodelle toimintasuunnitelma sekä talousarvio ja valitaan vuoden 2026 vuosijuhlamestari sekä fuksi- ja tuutorivastaavat. Lisäksi tarpeen vaatiessa kokouksessa päivitetään hallitusnauhaohjesääntö ja käsitellään muut esille tulevat asiat. Kaikki Matrixin jäsenet ovat tervetulleita tuomaan ääntänsä kuuluviin! Jokaisella varsinaisella jäsenellä on kokouksessa yksi äänioikeus, mikäli äänestystilanteisiin päädytään. Tarkistathan ennen kokousta Matrixin nettisivuilta omista tiedoistasi, että olet varsinainen jäsen, mikäli haluat asettua ehdolle tai äänestää. Mikäli et ole maksanut jäsenmaksuasi vielä ja et ole sen johdosta varsinainen jäsen, otathan pikimmiten yhteyttä Matrixin varapuheenjohtajaan Anni Nurmeen. Jos et pääse kokoukseen, mutta haluat asettua ehdolle, voit lähettää valtakirjan hallituksen puheenjohtajalle ennen kokousta. In the meeting, the board for 2026 will be chosen including the chair, vice chair, treasurer, secretary, up to 6 other members of the board and up to 6 vice members of the board. We will also go through the plan of action and budget for the year 2026. In addition to this, we will also select one anniversary party master and three fresher and tutor coordinators for the year 2026. Furthermore, we'll update the board ribbon guideline in the meeting if needed and discuss any other matters. All Matrix members are welcome to come to the meeting! The official members have a right to a vote at the meeting, and all non-voting/auxiliary members have a right to attend. Before the meeting, please make sure on the website on your own page that you are an official member of Matrix, if you wish to vote or apply for some position. If you haven’t paid the membership fee yet, but wish to apply for a position, please contact vice chair Anni Nurmi as soon as possible. If you can’t make it to the meeting but would like to apply for a position, you can send a power of attorney to the chair of the board before the meeting. Matrix's website now also in English! In early 2024, our website finally got a long-awaited feature: English translations. You can easily change the language by clicking on the flag in the top right-hand corner (bottom of the page menu on mobile). Not all the information may have been translated yet, but all the English versions will be available soon. Have a good time surfing on the Matrix website!
